Loneliness

Loneliness leads to mediocrity.
Lowered standards followed by attention
from men that don't measure up
at the end of the weekend.

And a feeling of settling never rolled
anyone out of bed quickly.
So you just lay there until you find
the courage to face last night's decisions.

But all you've got is justification
and that never left a good taste
in anyone's mouth.
Because no one ever fell in love
with someone who was just
good enough.

I've experienced goodness,
it doesn't keep anyone around very long.
